If you see termites in Mobile, don’t be surprised. Terminix has ranked our city as Number 1 in a list of areas with termite problems.

Really if you see termites, first call to get them removed, and then, call your lawyer. Termite protection companies seem to not want to settle claims. From my experience, it seems any excuse will do … and they will often find any excuse to show they are not responsible.

Here are some examples from our case files and some of other lawyers I know.

An Alabama family was getting ready to re-do a bedroom for a new baby. They began to see swarms of the pests. Damage was estimated more than $140,000. They had relied on the pest control company to protect them. It was so awful they had to hire a second company to re-treat the house so that it was not destroyed.

Another Alabama family had just bought a house and received a clean inspection. According to their attorney, the damage should have been obvious to a trained inspector. They are now having to sue.

You might think cities like New Orleans should be number 1 in termites. In fact, termites in New Orleans are said to swarm so densely that they can be seen on weather radar. However, New Orleans takes the nasty bugs serious and have strong laws to protect folk. May I suggest that we in Mobile need to do the same.
