Do you need a termite bond?

Allen Ritchie • March 5, 2021

If you live in Mobile, Alabama, there’s a good chance that you’ll have to get your house treated for termites at least once. When you buy a new house, you can check to see if the house comes with a termite bond. You could also buy your own termite bond after you move in.

Why do you need a termite bond?

A termite bond is a contract that you make with an extermination company. In exchange for monthly payments, they’ll take care of termite infestations. They’ll also take care of some termite damage although they don’t typically cover damage that might cause a termite infestation. With a termite bond, you can get help quickly and easily.

You can also request a termite letter from a local agency. Before you move in, you’ll hire an inspector to evaluate the house. If they don’t find any termites, they’ll give you a termite letter that assures you that the house is clean. Otherwise, you might have to contact the seller about termite removal. You’ll probably have to pay a fee for the inspector to drive out and visit the house.

Termite damage is of the biggest threats to homes in certain parts of Alabama. If you’re dealing with a termite infestation and your exterminator isn’t taking care of the problem, contact a termite damage attorney.

Can you sue an exterminator for failing to remove the termites?

You might be dealing with a serious termite infestation , but it’s still your exterminator’s job to kill the termites and protect your home from damage. If they fail to do this, you might have to spend more money on frequent exterminations. You might also suffer from home damage that could have been prevented. If you’re dealing with this situation, an attorney might be able to hold the company accountable.
