Don’t Get Lost in Camp Lejeune Settlement!

You need a local lawyer for a Camp Lejeune settlement, and here is why.

This month, the government released the number of claimants so far — 14,000, which could double in the next few months. Add to this, 2 billion dollars is up for grabs (that is with a “B”), and no money has yet been awarded. So, lawyers are fighting the government and other lawyers to get their clients a big chunk.

I worry about people who signed up with an anonymous out-of-state law firm. They could easily get lost in the shuffle. Who is looking out for them?

That is why I say think local. It will not cost one dime more. Let me explain how lawyers working together get paid. First, there is no money out of your pocket; the lawyers take a percentage of what they collect. Then, the fee for that legal work is split among the lawyers. So, there is no cost difference if one lawyer or one hundred lawyers are working on your case. Put all this together, and why would you not want a local person you could speak with?

Here is some background. If you lived or worked near Camp Lejeune in North Carolina any time from the 1950s to the 1980s, chances are you interacted with contaminated water through drinking, cooking, bathing, and the like. Even the medical center and daycare facility used this dangerous water. Investigations have shown that severe illnesses have developed because of this, including cancer, fetal abnormalities, and a multitude of other medical problems. The federal government has accepted responsibility.

The number one question I get is – how much could I collect? It depends on several factors, but most estimates are in the hundreds of thousands of dollars for the most affected.
