Additionally, some businesses have actively worked against the employees. For example, pushing hurt laborers to quit, inventing reasons to fire people, and even offering to pay hurt people not to sue. All these types of behavior can cost an injured person thousands of dollars, if not hundreds of thousands.

Top 4 injuries that need a doctor  AND  a lawyer:

  • Fractures, especially of the spine and neck – These are often the result of the company not following established procedures. A bad back is not a normal cause of physical labor.
  • Any head injury – Despite research into concussion trauma, some bosses tell workers to shake it off. We now know these head injuries can cause significant mental difficulties well into the future.
  • Reduced sight or hearing – This is often the result of a lack of proper protective gear.
  • Post-Traumatic Stress – Workplace PTSD is a real phenomenon resulting in such symptoms as exhaustion, depression, anxiety, sleep problems, irritability, and mood swings.

I see two major reasons injured workers don’t contact a lawyer. They think the injury is too minor, or they think their problem is a result of something other than work, for example, aging. Often neither of these reasons is valid.
